Gender Development of Vietnamese Adolescents

Abstract

Gender development is a complex and has a great impact on the life of each individual. In this article, we research the individual's gender development through the stages: gender identity, gender role identity, and sexual orientation. In addition, Vietnam is a country under Eastern culture but in the context of socio-economic changes, the article also provides survey results on the actual situation of gender development of Vietnamese teens at present. However, the influence of gender development to the life of an individual is very significant. In the context of Vietnam social trend on the demand for equality, respect of homosexual and bisexual people, and arguments offered by some civil agencies and organizations regarding law adjustment for homosexual people, it is urgent to conduct a research and take a scientific look on gender development in the current society, including psychological basis mentioned in the article.
