A PERSPECTIVE ON THE TRANSLATOR’S SUBJECTIVITY AND ITS CONSTRAINTS IN LITERARY TRANSLATION: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS

Abstract

Literary translation is a kind of reconstruction in a target language based on a source material. The study of translation is becoming more vital as the globe becomes increasingly interconnected. Persons who actually do the deed, especially translators, are involved in the activity of translating. When it comes to literary translation, the translator's involvement is critical. Subjectivity, or the status impacted by subjective and initiative thoughts and personal viewpoints, is crucial for the translator and translating. As a result, the purpose of this article is to examine the translator's subjectivity as well as the constraints imposed on translators in literary translation. The traditional and modern translational theories in literary translation are discussed in this study. This study provides in-depth insights into the translator's subjectivity, including cultural awareness, reader awareness, personal attributes, social and ideological views, language competency, aesthetic propensity, and inventiveness. In addition, this study discusses literary translation limits such as artistic, ideological, and socio cultural constraints.
