Stressors And Their Causes Among Girls Volleyball Players

Abstract
Background: Stress and life are indispensable and no one can guarantee the avoidance of stress in any walk of life. Experts claim that stress is something biological which can be tackled prior to affecting performance of the player. On account of its vitality, the researcher decided to work upon this topic to assess the different causes and various types of stresses confronted to the girls Volley Ball players of different colleges of district Rahim Yar Khan. Objectives: To determine the main causes and the most prevalent stressors among the girls Volley Ball players. Hypothesis: It was hypothesized that significant stressors will be confronted to the girls Volley Ball players. Methodology: Survey approach was adopted for this study. Purposive sampling technique was used for the selection of sample population for this study. Population for this study comprised of 120 girls Volley Ball players of different colleges of district Rahim Yar Khan. Data were collected through a questionnaire developed by Ying Ming Lin & Farn Shing Chen. The overall reliability of the questionnaire was 0.735. Results: Main causes of stress among the girls volley ball players were mental stressor, psychological stressor, motional stressor, physical stressors, social stressors and environmental stressors. Conclusions: It is concluded that various causes exist which result in the shape of stress among girls Volley Ball players. These factors include performance edge of the opponents, personal and team’s poor performance, continuous mistakes committed during the competition, selfish behavior of the players, partial behavior of the referee, uncertainty of selection, change in playing position, poor fitness level etc.
