The Trend of Urban Development Will Come As A Result of the Generational Change of Urban Warfare

Abstract

The generational change of warfare began with the French industrial revolution as the first generation war and ended with the social revolution as the cause of the worldwide military revolution in anticipation of the movement of radicalism, terrorism and separatism as a fifth generation war. This generational change of warfare with asymmetric, proxy and hybrid warfare models determines the upcoming form of urban development in the face of the threat of urban warfare that is foreseen to occur. The purpose of this study is to plan and prepare urban development in the face of the upcoming city war as a goal of protecting the nation in maintaining state sovereignty, territorial integrity and national safety. Phenomenological and historical approaches were used in this study by qualitative methods. The results and discussion of this study found: First, The Change of War Generations determines the Development of Cities in peacetime always begins with technological changes as the cause of organizational changes. Organizational changes overhauled military doctrine, strategy and tactics. This change affected the construction of military power along with the construction of the city. Second, The tendency of the city's impending war threat in the form of asymmetric, proxy and hybrid war threats determines urban development planning. Third, the national development strategy in planning the future urban development balances the goals of security and welfare in order to achieve the ideals of the Indonesian nation, namely fairness and prosperity.
